Cut
Each panel is laid out by eye around the hide's scars and grain, then cut with a round knife. The best of the hide goes where your hand goes.
One maker, one hide, fourteen hours. Keep scrolling to watch a HENDRIK tote come together, stitch by stitch.
Shop the collectionOne pair of hands, one hide, one bag at a time. No glue where a stitch belongs, no plastic where brass will do.
Every HENDRIK piece is cut, stitched and burnished by Anshare Leather from full-grain, vegetable-tanned hides that darken and soften with you. We make fewer things, and we fix them for as long as you own them.
Inside the workshop
Each panel is laid out by eye around the hide's scars and grain, then cut with a round knife. The best of the hide goes where your hand goes.

Two needles, one waxed linen thread, around six hundred stitches. A saddle stitch can't unravel even if one breaks.

Edges are sanded, dyed and burnished with beeswax until they shine like glass. No paint, no plastic edge coat.

Handles are set with solid brass rivets, pressed by hand one at a time. Nothing here will snap, peel or tarnish to grey.
Leather is finished by the life it lives. Some of ours, out in the world.
